Space Race Review and Giveaway~!! (CLOSED)

THEIR STORY:
Space Race was created out of a desire to develop an exciting and entertaining concept for our children, and also make it educational. The idea came to them on a family trip they took to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. Their kids headed straight for the gift shop on arrival, and couldn’t stop playing with a toy Space Shuttle and rocket ship as they explored the museum. They thought, wouldn’t it be cool to create an animated series about spaceships flying to different planets in our Solar System? They spent a year working on the story, and then another six months on the designs and visual imagery of the Space Race world. They hope you enjoy it, and that it also can be a vehicle for kids to learn more about Space, math and science.

About Space Race:
Space Race (www.spaceracekids.com) launched as an animated web series focusing on space education, space travel and racing, with the goal of teaching children about space and the solar system.  Space Race features 8 characters, each in spaceship form, as they race through space, merging unique comic relief with breathtaking excitement and adventure.

A parents and teachers section includes educational guides, supplements and flash cards.  The printable items incorporate Space
Race characters, themes and activities.  Some curriculum sections include:  Arts + Crafts:  Build Your Own Spaceship; Recipes:  Moon Balls; and Picture Puzzle:  Space Race.  Parents and teachers will be able to promote a love of space, exploration and adventure using Space Race themed flash cards.  An electronic colouring page allows kids to colour in their own Space Race characters and pictures before printing them out and sharing with friends and family.

Each webisode features an interview with one of our star characters and an education module which will provide more detail about a certain part of our solar system; Eagle Wingstrong teaches about Earth, Vulture Albatross:  space stations, Colonel Coot:  Mars and so on.

Directed by Emmy award-winning director Mark Risley, the family friendly fact-based shows hosted by “Gary Galaxy” (played by Meyer deLeeuw) combine high-quality animation reminiscent of Disney Pixar’s CARS with humor and education to teach children about science, adventure and what’s important about each of the Space Race characters.

My Thoughts~!!

Space Race is an absolutely adorable and educational site for wee folks~!!  The graphics are quite delightful and very entertaining for wee ones imaginations...they are almost like a Pixar cartoon in their design and flow.

I had my children play around the site for a while and my young lad didn't want to leave...LOL  He was impressed with the characters and his favourite was Pigeon Pirelli, the confidant and vain raceship who is takes Eagle Wingstrong under his wing.  Eagle is the young, hotshot with dreams of being the fatest in the solar system, Vulture Albatross is the bad, corporate raceship, who, along with his evil minions, will stop at nothing to obtain all the fuel sources within the solar system.  We also find other delightful characters such as, Colonol Coot:  lead scientist and Vulture's loyal henchman, Sabia and Condor Wingstrong, Eagle's parents, Robin Egger, Eagle's best friend, and Master Crane, the wise and intelligent spaceracer who knows more about the solar system than anyone.  Each of this characters were a delight to interact with, their personalities were enjoyable and believable as well.

I received this really neat poster which is going on my son's bedroom wall...they have a space themed bedroom, so it fits right in...LOL

I can see Space Race growing in many wonderful, educational and entertaining directions and I look forward to watching their growth.  Right now they have a very groovy contest going on...Space Race needs new space ship names~!!  They are in the process of creating new and exciting designs to their fray and need YOU to help name them~!!  You can e-mail them at:  info@spaceracekids.com or you can post your ideas on their FaceBook page or you can find Space Race on Twitter~!!
