How to Play Guitar in One Day ~ No Kidding

A beginner simply needs a good basic guitar preferably new. Music shops have experts who can show you the different types, make sure the neck of the guitar fits your hand, and the body lies across yours warmly and snugly. Making a relationship with a person in a music shop gives you some one to go to if you need a guitar buddy, someplace to hang out or you have gotten good enough to play with the best of the best. A music store offers those side services in a community plus they know the musicians in the area.

Here is a simple lesson to check if you are willing to learn and practice on this marvelous instrument. Be warned it will make you fall in love with it. You will play for every person you encounter because it will sound so good. You will see yourself as a talented guitar player.

Positioning the Guitar
You can play many simple songs with two chords. Today we will learn what I call “Baby C” and “Baby G7”. All you need is your first finger right after your thumb on your left hand. Then we must get you into the position. For beginners it is best to ease in by sitting down. So find a good seat so that your knees are slightly elevated above your hips. A wooden kitchen chair works fine. Place the guitar’s neck in your left hand, and its curve just below its sound hole on your right thigh. You may need to rock a bit to get your body in a relaxed position. Having a strap on the guitar that goes around the neck helps maintain a position for a very long time.

Where to Put Your Finger
Looking down the neck of the guitar you will see bars. On the guitar head are pegs called keys that tune your guitar. For the moment let’s leave those alone. After the head there is a space and then a fret bar. The guitar has six strings. Number six is the big old low noted E near your head. Number one is the tiny sweet high note E. For this exercise we will need strings 1, 2, 3. The 3 silver tiny ones that when plucked make melodic high notes.

Baby C and G7
In fret one right beside that first golden or silver bar place the tip of your first finger on string 2 and press firmly like when you are going to kiss your loved one, and you are bringing them close. Guitars like to be caressed like that. Strum only the bottom 3 strings. For the time being ignore the top 3 strings. Use a pick or use your fingers both work. Simply practice stroking down in a steady rhythm like your heart beat. This is “Baby C”.

Now simply roll your first finger down to string number one. Again only strum strings 1, 2, 3 and leave all those low strings alone. Now we are ready to practice switching back and forth, back and forth. Strum “Baby C” for four strokes and then roll down, and strum “Baby G7” for four strokes. Practice alternating the two for a while. Go slowly. We will speed up the rhythm later on. Then practice stroking two “Baby C’s”, and two “Baby G7’s”. Now we are ready for a song. Below is a link to a beginner’s book with simple songs for C and G7. Slash marks tell you what word to stroke on. With a little practice you will be playing 5 or 6 songs in a day. Enjoy.

Just What Is A Guitar Anyway?

The guitar as we know it has a long history and there will be many an argument to its true origins and it begs us to ask what is a guitar anyway?

The Basic Design And Origins
The basic design of a guitar goes all the way back to many civilizations.  As far back as ancient Persia and the Indus valley regions there were people who strung a piece of string or animal gut or hair across a hollowed out gourd and made sounds.  As civilizations evolved they played with the basic design of a body with long neck attached with strings of varying materials are strung from the top of the neck down over the body allowing the strings to be plucked producing combinations of sounds.  These sounds produced by the guitar become music.

There literally is no telling who invented the basic guitars but we can trace the modern guitar's roots to various cultures around the world.  It appears that trade and conquest accelerated the design of the guitar to what it is today.  From ancient India to Persia, to African countries such as Egypt and Timbuktu, to Greece, Rome and more, the path of the guitar is clearly seen yet its modern manifestation is something quite to take note of.

The Renaissance And Antonio de Torres Jurado
Mainly the guitar got its major once over during the years of the Renaissance and then from the area we call Spain.  Actually when all is said and done, it finally turns out the Spanish hold the banner of having developed the guitar to what we use today.  It was a man named  Antonio de Torres Jurado who was born in the 1800s he spent his life developing the guitar to what we know of today which lead to the classical, acoustic, electric guitars.  He is literally the father of guitars.  The added sixth string then enabled for greater range and more manipulation of the guitar.  So now instead of five strings it is six strings and changed the way theory and practical are applied today.

Noted Maestros
It is funny that from earlier instruments we now have such renown players such as Jimi Hendrix, Slash, Les Paul who revolutionized the electric guitar first developed in the 1930s,  Carlos Santana who has kept the Spanish tradition of masterful performances, are all descendents of the earlier masters of guitar like Agustin Barrios from South America.

Needless to say, the guitar has a great history and will continue to do so.

Thank you to EasilyPlayGuitar for giving us the information that was used into todays article, without them we would not have been able to write for you today.

World's Best Guitarists

If there’s one sure fire way to get music fans into a heated argument, it’s to start a discussion about who are the world’s best guitarists. It’s a very emotive and subjective issue, and the answers will vary depending on musical taste and personal preferences. There are however some names which keep coming up again and again in these sorts of discussions.

Jimi Hendrix
There are only a very few people who have changed the face of world music forever, and one of these is Jimi Hendrix, who exploded onto the rock scene in the late 1960s. The sound he got out of his guitar was like nothing the world had heard before, and his untimely death at the age of 27 guarantees that his music remained high profile through the 1970s too. He was the first to use the pedal extensively in his guitar playing and this added to the unusual sounds. He is one of the most influential guitar players of all time, and was named the best guitar player ever in a survey by Rolling
Stone magazine.

Eric Clapton
Clapton was originally a blues player, and found fame with the Yardbirds before breaking away and forming his own band, Cream. He was well-known for writing his own material and his guitar solos as he was for cover versions of songs by the likes of Bob Marley, and although he has retired from the music scene in recent years he still features highly on lists of the world’s best guitar players. Clapton was a seasoned performer in his own right, and sang as well as playing on most of his most memorable hits. Clapton is unusual in that he does not have a preferred brand of instrument and has played many different types of guitars over his career.

Edge
There was a point in the 1980s when U2 were Ireland’s biggest export, and it would be difficult to name a band which had had more international success over the past 30 years. The Edge’s distinctive guitar sounds is what made the band stand out from the crowd, and many have tried to emulate his sound on their own Rickenbacker 620 Fireglo, with varying degrees of success. U2 may not have as a high a profile as they did a few years ago, but they have an extensive back catalogue of hits and have influenced many of the next generation of guitarists.

George Harrison
The two high profile members of the Beatles were John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and guitarist George Harrison is often overlooked in the popularity stakes. However, his guitar sound contributed greatly to the success of the band, and the Beatles transformed the face of popular music across the world in the 1960s. Harrison had solo success after the break up of the band, and was a high profile campaigner for human rights until his death in 2001. Harrison was a fan of the Rickenbacker brand of guitars, and many a young player wishing to emulate his style has picked up a Rickenbacker 620 Fireglo and strummed a few chords.

Is this a #Bieber Breakdown~??

Canadian Pop Star sensation, Justin Bieber, may be expressing more than anger in his recent alleged altercation with a photographer last month, as the pressure continues to build over his quick rise to fame and fortune.

After the incident, Bieber flew out of the country for scheduled performances and is now wanted for questioning by the California police about the incident and have asked for his return to the country by Friday, June 15th.

Bieber has been accused of assaulting a member of the paparazzi while shopping at a center near Calabasas, CA with his long~time girlfriend, Selena Gomez.

The photographer, who was later treated and released from hospital, is considering filing a civil suit against the pop star.  This is a high~profile case and Bieber is definitely being brought in for questioning.  Due to the media attention, the police wish to get his side of the story in order to determine whether to pursue the case or turn it over to the prosecutors.

However, it is being said that it is highly unlikely any charges will be filed.  Los Angeles based lawyer, Anahita Sedaghatfar has told Fox News that the paparazzi are only looking for "monetary compensaton" as they have "seen this time and time again, celebrities being accused of minor crimes like this."

The song styles range from Rock'n'Roll anthems to sea shanties, Jazz to Folk and features guest artists:

Brandi Carlisle

Hank Williams III
Tommy Ramone (The Ramones)

The children and myself truly enjoyed the Nature Jams CD and my daughter plays this continuously as it strikes her love of nature and she was impressed with the song quality.  There are songs about Moose...yeeaaaa...we LOVE the Mooses...as well as, buffaloes (another favourite), caves, whales, glaciers, outdoors and so much more.  There is an impressive array of music displayed upon this CD.

I loved the messages that Farmer Jason shares with the children, about taking the time to enjoy nature and to immerse yourself in the surroundings around you.  He delivers these thoughts in an up~beat and friendly manner that is not condescending towards children but delivered to them with heart~warming and thought~provoking inflections.

We loved the Celtic stylin's of The Saw Doctors, Well, oh Whale and Dison the Bison sung with Webb Wilder and The Black Crowes', Steve Gorman.  I must say, there are a load of people who share their talents to put this CD together, others to mention are Suzy Bogguss and Terrance Simien who also lend their talents to bring us a truly remarkable musical wonder.

I would give this CD a two thumbs up, it kept me humming throughout the day as some of the tunes stick in your head and you cannot help but replay them in your mind as you go about your day~!!

Losing a loved one can be the most difficult time in your life and the last thing you should be concerned with is having the money to cover funeral expenses. Having funeral insurance can provide your with financial support to cover funeral costs, so that you can focus on the more personal touches for the day, such as the flowers that will be used, any loved ones that may wish to make a speech and what song will be played at the funeral. Funeral Insurance usually covers most funeral costs, from the flowers and the cask to the service itself. If you are having difficulty deciding on what music would be appropriate to remember your loved one who has passed and celebrate the beautiful life that they lived, the following funeral songs are very popular and appropriate for the occasion.

Never Tear us apart performed by INXS
This song was played at the funeral of INXS’s lead singer, Michael Hutchence, after his untimely death in 1997. When performing with INXS, Michael Hutchence sung this song with such emotion and passion that it was a truly moving scene at his funeral when ‘Never Tear us apart’ was performed with his fellow band members present. Since the passing of Michael, this song has been heard at funerals worldwide, a truly moving and fitting song for bidding farewell to a loved one.

Amazing Grace performed by Various Artists
If you are looking for a more traditional song to play at a funeral, Amazing Grace provides an elegant option. This song has been performed by various artists for many years and it will be easy to find a version of the song that is appropriate for your expectations.

Angel performed by Sarah McLachlan
The smoothness of Sarah McLachlan’s voice makes this song truly moving and emotional. ‘Angel’ talks about the struggles we face within our lives and about the feeling of being at peace. This song is beautiful and touching, and appropriate for saying goodbye to someone that you love dearly.

The Day you went away performed by Wendy Matthews
This song has become one of the more popular songs of all time. Although this song does not relate directly to the passing of a loved one, it relates to loss and grieving. The Prayer performed by Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli
This is a truly moving and beautiful song and upon listening to it, you will understand why it has become one of the most popular funeral songs of all time. Although this song is called ‘The Prayer’ it does not necessarily need to be used as a religious song, rather a beautiful song with well wishes for loved ones. This song is a very dramatic song, sung with such emotion by both Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli.

Rickenbacker Guitars: The Sound Of The 60s

Rickenbacker began its life in 1931. It was formed in Los Angeles by Adolph Rickenbacker and George D. Beauchamp, and started life as the snappily named Electro String Instrument Corporation. The purpose was clear; the brand would focus on making high quality stringed instruments with the latest in electric components.

This dedication made an indelible impression on popular music, starting with jazz musicians of the the 30s, then on into the 60s, and the birth of pop music. Rickenbacker guitars are still highly regarded, and played by major bands and artists today. There is, however, something about the Swinging Sixties that seems to be inextricably linked to these guitars, and their sound could almost be the voice for the era's young generation.

The 1960s was, of course, saw the beginnings of a pop movement that began with the birth of the teenager in the previous decade. It was now stronger, more vibrant, and took rock'n'roll into a brand new direction. Arguably, it was The Beatles that brought about the surge in this new pop sound, although there were many other bands who reinforced the relevance of British music across the globe.

You can hear Rickenbacker guitars from Liverpool to LA
Taking the influences from US rock'n'roll, blues and folk, the British Invasion had a very definite sound. Band such as The Beatles and The Who were powered by Rickenbacker, with guitars that had a signature 'jangly' tone. Around the same time, American bands were also discovering this unique sound, employing it in their own unique ways. The Byrds found the Rickenbacker guitar sound ideal for their own folk pop tunes, and The Beach Boys surf sound really benefited from the unmistakable twang of these instruments.

As music changed with the years, and the harder rock sounds of the 70s began to take shape, the Rickenbacker could be heard less and less in popular music. Saying that, it wasn't all together ignored. With the right effects and distortion, Rickenbackers to certainly fight in their own corner for crunch, but it wasn't until the 80s that the instrument found favour again, from two very different places.

Although there are many bands to this day that are influenced by the 60s sound, but it was the 80s and 90s that seemed to really absorb the memorable styles of the era. In the eighties, bands such as REM and The Bangles were clearly influenced by the breezy jangle of The Byrds. In the nineties, the Britpop scene captured much of the musical style of the music coming from the UK from years before. Notable for employing Rickenbackers to achieve this replication of sixties pop were The Stone Roses and Oasis.

Rickenbacker guitars are just as popular today, as more bands have found ways to achieve incredible sounds from these remarkable instruments, carrying on the legacy of sixties.

Carrie’s two previous headline tours, 2008’s “Carnival Ride Tour” and 2010’s “Play On Tour,” performed for a combined total of nearly 250 shows with 2.2 million fans in attendance, and she wrapped both years as the top-ranked female country touring artist.

The Music Legends Who Made The Instruments Famous

Its the same with football boots, golf clubs and cars, the right endorsement from a famous expert can propel the brand to success. Nowhere is this more visible than the world of music, where getting a top selling artist associated with your instrument is a potential goldmine. Read on to find out how musical legends have turned ordinary instruments into music icons.

Hofner
Hofner were already pretty famous in Germany for their range of guitars. However, their products were considered premium, and cutomers needed a good reason to pay the higher prices they were charging. In 1956, Walter Hofner designed a semi-acoustic bass guitar, which he named the 500/1. This violin shaped bass was far more symmetrical than most other guitars, which appealed to a young, left-handed, Paul McCartney.

McCartney adopted the Hofner 500/1 as his primary guitar, owning two versions of the model, both of which appeared in countless music videos, and were used to record some of the Beatles' most successful albums. The 500/1 even became known as the 'Beatle Bass', becoming the ultimate must-have guitar for any Beatles wannabe. Hofner have had similar success with Richie Blackmore, of Deep Purple and Rainbow, who learnt to play on a Hofner Club 50 Guitar, before switching to a Fender Stratocaster.

Fender
The most iconic guitar manufacturer has produced instruments for a huge number of music's greatest ever names. One of Fender's most popular guitars, the Stratocaster has been favoured by musicians such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Holly, George Harrison, John Lennon, Mark Knopfler, Hank Marvin, Ritchie Valens, Ronnie Wood, Kurt Cobain and Pete Townshend. With so many rock legends using their guitars, it's no wonder so many people consider Fender to be the best guitar manufacturer.

Fender has taken advantage of the adoption of their instruments by music's top guitarists by creating signature editions. Those artists who can afford it often choose to have their Fender custom made. Occasionally Fender create replicas of these custom builds as a signature edition. Notable signature editions have been created for Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. This tactic has further built the connection between the company and succesful artists.

The Banjolele
Sometimes one person can be responsible for the success of an entire instrument. The banjolele has the body of a traditional banjo, but the fretted neck of a ukulele, and was relatively unknown at the start of the 20th century. This was until George Formby, a British comedian began to use the instrument in his comedy songs.

Formby experienced huge success with hits such as 'When I'm Cleaning Windows', 'Leaning on a Lamp Post' and others which were full of double entendre and other comical elements. These hits helped propel the banjolele into its golden era of success in the 1920's and 1930's. In the late 1930's, Formby was Britains most succesful movie star with a huge fan base, many of whom looked to imitate his playing style, causing the instrument to sell in huge numbers.
