Stop Cold Turkey: Over-Exercise and Crash Diets

Over-exercise and crash diets are the two ways that most people think are helpful to help them slim down their body. A fat belly is not the desire of men and women ever since. Having sexy abs and wonderful thighs are a few things that make many of us so eager to exercise and limit our food intake. But do you think these are good enough to reach the size your waistline? Some people think that these are helpful but according to the experts and studies, over-exercise and crash diets have bad results. Let’s find out how why.

Because of the extreme desire of people to keep their body in shape, they tend to exercise more and more. Even it takes long hours of warm up in a day, people will mostly like do it for the sake of their weight loss pattern. But what they don’t realize about this over-exercise is that it can stimulate more the hunger of a person wherein they will likely eat more calories to satisfy their taste. Working out more than 2 hours a day is already an over-exercise.

People that usually do this suffer from psychological hunger. After an excessive exercise, you like to reward yourself with high calorie foods. So what do you think is the result of this over-exercise? Gain of weight, right? So, to combat this, you need to consider your meals effectively. Eat light snacks and don’t miss or skip your meals especially your breakfast.

Speaking of your meals, it is important that you have the best meal plan set for you. Crash diet is good but it can also be unhealthy to do. Why? As its other word suggests, starvation diet, it can really make you starve and make you feel like eating more after the few weeks of your diet. An excessive drop of calorie you intake compare to your usual calorie consumption can’t be prolonged for more longer weeks of diet. Many people do this, but unfortunately, they never succeed because they feel eating more. In this type of diet, you need patience and endure just to continue it.

Crash diets will more likely fail you, therefore, stop cold turkey and shift to low-calorie diet meals. But of course, this low-calorie diet needs the supervision of your weight-loss professional instructor. When you are on a diet, you still need to be sure that you still have the consumption of the needed nutrients in your body. If not, you will still have an ineffective weight-loss management. If you want lasting results of your weight-loss pattern, ask help from a professional, follow the advice and reap the rewards after.

Top Five Edible Insects

Of all the things you want to put in your mouth insects are, for most people, not one of them. However, that hasn’t stopped them from making their way over to the plates of the Western world. Popularised by shows such as I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, many people buy edible insects in order to hold Bush Tucker Trials of their own. But can you ever consider insects to be a gourmet treat, or will they always simply be served for shock value? Allow me to present you with a delightful menu of the culinary macabre and see if you’re still hungry.

5) Ants
Edible ants come prepared in a variety of ways both sweet and savoury. Giant leafcutter ants are the most popular species used, especially as common preparation methods such as frying can make smaller insects quite fragile. Chocolate-coated queen leafcutter ants are a delicacy to Colombia’s Guane Indians, and are thought to boost the immune system and energy levels.

4) Worms
Usually the larvae of something rather than actual earthworms (these allegedly don’t cook very well). Worms can be baked, fried or put into lollipops, and tend to end up coupled with a wide variety of different flavours. Be glad you are unlikely to find these in your Chinese takeaway Camden Lost Boys-style.

3) Scorpions
Luckily for you, these tend to have been destinged before sale. Scorpions tend to be served sweet, for example in chocolate and lollipops. However, alcohol, specifically vodka, appears to be another popular accompaniment to the edible scorpion. While a lot of animals eat scorpions in the wild, you definitely wouldn't want to tackle one of these yourself without a decent supply of antivenom.

2) Hornets
Another rather unappetising sounding beastie. The hornet is alleged to contain special enzymes that boost strength and energy levels, so much so that Japanese athletes were instructed to consume them before competing in the 2000 Olympic games. This particular insect-based snack features a hornet on a needle suspended inside its own honey, this enabling the release of the beneficial enzymes into it.

1) Tarantulas
One of less common edible insect offerings. This site offers them oven baked (apparently a Cambodian delicacy but once a necessity during the Khmer Rouge period), supplying them with an eating guide and warning diners to remove the fangs before tucking in. Certainly not the meal of choice for an arachnophobic, but apparently quite tasty.

7 Unhealthiest Cities in America

Eating healthy is probably one of the hardest things to do. I mean, who is going to pick a boring leafy salad over a yummy, sizzling piece of pizza that is piled high with delicious veggies and meats? Only someone with a lot of self-control. The worst part is that eating healthy can also cost more. With more Americans facing job cuts, it seems like the better choice to eat out and not worry about spending so much. If you are thinking about moving, take a look at these cities, they are the unhealthiest cities in America. Watch yourself!

1. Detroit, MI. According to the CDC, 33% or the people that live here are obese. This is extremely worrisome, 1 in 3 people? Seems like people have begun to notice and there is a movement to make empty lots into community gardens.
2. Fort Wayne, IN. Rates of obesity and heart disease are record breaking. Even though people are fat, it seems like they are happy. It is well above the “happy” scale when rated to other cities.
3. Lubbock, TX. 32% of the residents here are obese. Who could blame them? There are tons of yummy steakhouses and barbecue places around the city.
4. Dallas, TX. The people that live here are all about the fast food. They eat fast food on an average of almost 21 times a month. A month!! There are usually 30 days in a month. The national average is 17 times a month. It seems that the reason it's people are obese is because no one walks to work. Only 7% of people walk or bike to places.
5. New Orleans, LA. How could these people not be obese? With so many deep friend plates and the mindset of always self-indulging, people are way more likely to be obese when they live here. But, you can still workout―over 25% of this city is parkland.
6. Tulsa, OK. It seems like people here don't walk (or can't) to where they need to go. Most people that live here are completely dependent on their cars.
7. Louisville, KY. This city has the most McDonald's in an area. Try 39. This city also boasts, 17 Dairy Queens, 19 Papa John's, and 20 Arby's. Fast food anyone?

Although where you live isn't going to make you fat; you need to realize that the things around you will. If you are considering moving to any of these cities, be aware that you will have to be even more conscious about your weight and health.

Dashi: The Dish that Inspired Ajinomoto

For any meal that the Japanese prepare, soup is always present and considered a part of a complete meal. In fact, it serves as an appetizer before supping on each dish on the table, packed with tasty “gohan” or rice. The primary ingredient in making any soup is dashi (soup stock), which is mixed with other recipes. The stock, once ready, is added to diverse variations of nimono (stewed dishes) and dipping sauce. There are various ways of preparing dashi, but most of the Japanese prefer the traditional process, which started in the 19th century. Dashi is a clear stock. The goal in making dashi is to create the soup in a way that should be suitable for most meals, and also bringing the umami flavor to the table. In fact, it is dashi that inspired Professor Kikunae Ikeda to discover Ajinomoto because he wanted to extract the umami flavor he found so appealing in dashi.

Dashi is mainly created from boiling dried kelp (kombu) and kezurikatsuo (katsuobushi shavings), with variations of dried small sardines (niboshi), and dried shitake mushrooms. From the sources mentioned, some are pure vegetable stocks while others are fish stock. This is different from the usual pork, chicken and even beef soup stocks that are common soup bases and used in other recipes. The traditional or oldest form of this soup stock is made from kombu and katsuobushi (dried skipjack tuna), producing the same umami taste found in Ajinomoto. As described, katsuobushi are dried bonito flakes that contain protein, minerals and vitamins. It comes from boned, boiled, filleted, dried, and smoked fish that is shaved into thin flakes.

On the other hand, kombu is a kind of kelp, which is harvested in underwater forests. Kombu is best described as a large kind of seaweed. After harvesting, the kombu is laid out in the sun to dry, a very natural process that not only preserves the kombu but also intensifies its flavor. It contains dietary fiber, and loads of nutrients, which are also found in katsuobushi, except for its fiber that aids in maintaining good digestion and circulation. You just have to combine both the kombu and katsuobushi in a pot of water, put it to a boil and then strain the solids afterwards. Even without the presence of Ajinomoto, dashi makes each meal complete and savory. There are ready-made dashi granules and powder, which can be mixed into boiling water to have an instant dashi taste. Both ways are perfect in serving delicious and appetizing soups and other meals on the table.

Jane Burgess has been inspired to make Ajinomoto articles, as she tasted the classic umami flavor of dashi. She is in love with most Japanese soups and stewed meals because of the kombu-kezurikatsuo combination.

Top Health Benefits of 70s Fancy Dress

We all feel better after a loud belly laugh or even a quiet chuckle. Laughter increases the oxygen in our blood system and encourages the brain to release more endorphins. It relaxes our muscles, boosts our immune system and relieves pain and stress. Therefore it isn’t a huge stretch of the imagination when we say a 70s fancy dress party is good for both the physical and emotional body.

Laughter is contagious, that’s why toy laughing bags are such a huge hit. Try as you might it’s difficult to listen to even a machine laughing and stay serious, so no wonder we can’t help joining in when friends are involved. Have you ever tried to feel grumpy when you are smiling? Put a smile on your face and try to feel down hearted. It’s not easy. You can improve your mood by smiling more. A happy face looks younger too.

Burn Calories
Seventies disco dancing can help you lose excess weight. It suits people of all ages and will help tone up your muscles, get your blood pumping and raise your heart rate. The calories you burn can be comparable with cycling and swimming, and you don’t have to be a whiz on the dance floor to reap the benefits, even gentle exercise can release tension and help you relax.

Exercise also helps to increase vitality, improve stress levels, quality of sleep and a host of other things that are crucial to your body’s well being. So you could say a bit of disco dancing is just what the doctor ordered. John Travolta certainly looked in tip top shape in Saturday Night Fever.

Friendships

It has been said that loving friendships and a good social life can help you live a longer active life. It doesn’t matter whether you have a large circle of acquaintances or just one or two close friends as long as you can share the highs and lows of your life with someone special. Talking is a great healer and there is a lot of truth in the old adage ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’

A 70s fancy dress party is the perfect opportunity to make new friends. People are in the mood to be sociable, so it’s a good environment to find someone friendly to talk to. If you are shy and don’t mix easily, you could break the ice by talking about your costumes.

If you are hosting a party, there are lots of ways to encourage people to participate. Introduce them to new people and arrange a few sociable games to break up the small groups that tend to form. Quizzes done in teams are ideal.

How does it make us feel when we dress up? Fabulous, light hearted and sexy are some of the adjectives that come to mind; and anything that encourages exercise, laughter and social activity has a positive effect on your body. Fun and laughter are key ingredients in our daily lives, so enjoy the party and boost those endorphins.

Laugh long and prosper!

5 Celebrity Diet Plans to Avoid

Many celebrities today have reached iconic status. Young, impressionable people often look to celebrities as they would to an older sibling for fashion, lifestyle, and diet trends. With the advent of Facebook, Twitter, and reality television, an inside look into celebrities' lives has become easy. As celebrities continue to portray themselves as beautiful, fit, and virtually physically flawless, followers will enthusiastically try to imitate what they do in order to achieve the same results.

Hopefully, we aren't all gullible enough to fall for some of the celebrity diets out there. Put your heads back on, people, and remember, celebrities are eating, breathing people like you and me, and they, gasp, do not have any magical solutions for a fit body. Many of the popular celebrity diets have been found by nutrition experts to be completely ineffective and unsafe.

Drunkorexia
This one is also called "Alcorexia." It is a popular choice for many models, as they strive to maintain those lithe, barely-there bodies, without sacrificing too much or, heaven forbid, working out. I hope I don't need to tell you that binging on alcohol, or simply sticking to a diet of not eating or eating very little, is not a healthy way to maintain an optimal body weight. Enough said.

Dukan Diet
The Dukan diet, recently made popular by Kate Middleton's mother, also is said to have a following by J. Lo and Gisele Bündchen. It is a complicated, four-phase diet, claiming to produce weight loss of 7 pounds a week. It advises a strict diet of just protein for weeks on end, which can be hard to follow. Also, the Dukan diet can lead to constipation and a Vitamin B deficiency.

Blood Group Diet
Followers of this diet include Courtney Cox, Cheryl Cole, and Sir Cliff Richard. The British Dietetic Association (BDA) says this one is based on false science. The diet's philosophy is that different blood types break down different nutrients in the body. So, you are given a strict list of things to eat based on your blood type, which can lead to certain deficiencies and is not recommended for long-term use.

Raw Food Diet
This one seems the most reasonable. What could be bad about eating lots of fruits and vegetables in an uncooked state to maintain all the nutrients and vitamins? Plenty. This diet excludes many food groups like meat, poultry, grains, and rice, because they cannot be safely eaten without cooking. Whenever you exclude entire food groups, you are potentially depriving your body of important nutrients, which is never a good idea.

Baby Food Diet
Let's keep the jars on the high chair, folks. The baby food diet recommends up to fourteen jars of baby food throughout the day in place of snacks, and one regular meal. Baby food is made especially for babies for a reason, and adults' bodies are not going to get what they need from pureed foods, which often lack the full nutrients.

It's time to face the music: The only healthy way to lose weight, or maintain a healthy body is to follow a well-balanced diet plan, rich in fruits and vegetables, and to engage in physical activities on a regular basis. It really is that simple. For more sensible diet advice, visit LowFatDietPlan.org.

Dr. Sears ~ Zone 1-2-3 Foods Review & Giveaway~!!

The Zone diet is a way of life that helps you lose fat and increase wellness by reducing cellular inflammation. It's cellular inflammation that is the underlying cause of not only weight gain and the acceleration of chronic disease, but also the reason behind decreasing physical, emotional, and mental performance.

The mission at Zone Labs is to understand how diet affects hormones, genetic expression, and inflammation. With that knowledge, they can develop unique nutrition products and dietary programs that translate that understanding to consumers seeking weight loss, better health, and improved athletic performance.

Dr. Barry Sears founded Zone Labs in 1999 based on the discoveries he made on the role of diet in hormonal response, gene expression, and inflammation. The company has established a leadership position in the areas of high-purity omega-3 fatty acid concentrates, patented food products for improved hormonal control and satiety, and anti-inflammatory polyphenols. These products are used in diverse areas, such as weight loss, improved health, and athletic performance.

A former research scientist at the Boston University School of Medicine and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Sears has dedicated his research efforts over the past 30 years to the study of lipids. He has published more than 30 scientific articles and holds 13 U.S. patents in the areas of intravenous drug delivery systems and hormonal regulation for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. He has also written 13 books, including the New York Times #1 best-seller "The Zone". These books have sold more than 5 million copies in the U.S. and have been translated into 22 different languages.

 Why It Works...

The Zone Diet is clinically proven to reverse cellular inflammation by maintaining the inflammatory hormones generated by the food we eat within a Zone that is not high, but not too low.

The dietary program is conceptually simple. Simply divide your plate at every meal into three equal sections.

On one-third of the plate put some low-fat protein that is no bigger or thicker than the palm of your hand. Then fill the other two-thirds of the plate with color carbohydrates (vegetables and fruits). Finally add a dash (that’s a small amount) of fat that is low in omega-6 and saturated fats such as olive oil.

To solve these compliance problems they invented the ZoneFast Program. This highly structured 2-week program initially does all the thinking for you and still letting you eat the foods you like to eat in Zone meals to rapidly reduce cellular inflammation.

The key to their new Zone Foods is their revolutionary Zone Protein that is the most powerful way to stop hunger. Zone Protein that is the foundation of their ZoneFast program as each meal will contain 14 grams of Zone Protein. Zone Protein works by helping to release the hormones from digestive system to tell the brain to stop eating using the foods that you like to eat.

 My Thoughts~!!

I had the opportunity to review the Zone 1-2-3 program and for the most part, I found it quite delicious~!!

I thought the menu's that are given were easy to follow and there was enough food delivered to ensure that I could continue the two week program successfully!!

I thought the cinnamon bread and the bagels were very tasy but wasn't very fussy on the museli.  They broke down weird when I boiled them.  I thought the cookies tasted strange on the first bite but was good after that initial taste.  However, the flatbreads, the nougat bars and the croutons were yummy!  I found some of the products to taste like the wrapper they came in, but that could be just me, I have very sensitive taste buds...no one else that I had taste it to confirm could taste anything...*shrug*

There were some very tasty recipes and ideas shared in order to spice your food up in the correct manner.  The ZoneFast Weight Loss Program offered me many things to feast upon and it was delivered in two week intervals.  I also received some Omega-3 pills to take once a day...they really smelled fishy and you could certainly tell what it was you were ingesting.

I got to thinking that this would also make GREAT survival foods to have with you!!  My dude was thinking with how everything came package, including the bread, it was so fresh and tasty, that I could immediately see the benefits!!

As well, with the Christmas season coming up quickly, it isn't too late to think about our holiday eating habits!!  If you find yourself over-indulging this coming season, remember The ZoneFast Weight Loss Program to get your fine self back into shape~!!

Now...my wonderful Mad Moosers, new and old, we'd LOVE to give you the opportunity to try The ZoneFast Weight Loss Program out for yourselves...that's a $179.00 value and just in time for the upcoming season...
