Where Would You Start A World Tour?

Many of us love to travel, but we may also feel that we don’t get as many opportunities as we might like. As a result, we may be left to dream about great places that we would like to visit.

Although this may seem somewhat frustrating, it’s always nice to have something to aim for. Besides, it’s also true that the planning is often as much fun as the travelling! Well – almost!

If you were able to spend a year touring the world, what would your itinerary involve? That may be a difficult question to answer, simply because of the wide range of opportunities that are available to you. To begin with, it might make more sense to concentrate on where you would start such a tour. Where would be your dream location to start your tour of the world?

I’ve had a fair few thoughts on this subject over the years and my ideas keep on changing! There’s always the consideration that it might be nice to begin by visiting a location that you already know and love. That way, you can be sure that you’ll commence your journey on a positive note.

The alternative might be to head for somewhere that you’ve heard about and think would be great. The danger here is that you could be seriously disappointed if all is not as you had imagined. But there is, of course, the considerable chance of arriving at the greatest place that you’ve ever encountered on this planet. That would be an amazing way to start any trip!

Thinking about some of my most loved cities, I’ve often thought that I might like to start my own imaginary journey in Venice or Paris. These two cities are both known for their sense of romance. Venice, in particular, has the power to take the breath away. Seeing that city for the first time is one of those moments that can never be forgotten. It might be nice to start a world tour with that view, although there’s also the realisation that it won’t be as spectacular as it was first time around, since the element of surprise has been removed.

So where does that leave me? My thought process at this point involves looking for interesting places that I’ve not previously visited. I find myself checking Las Vegas accommodation options, without really having particular timescales in mind.

It’s one city that I’ve never visited and there’s something appealing about the excessive experience that I imagine would be presented there. I’m also aware that I could easily make it to the Grand Canyon from Vegas, so there’s the chance to combine stunning scenery with a great city break.

But how would it set the tone for my trip? That’s one question that I have certainly been asking myself. I wonder how all other locations would look through my eyes after Las Vegas. Would I find myself bored of other cities? Maybe I would actually enjoy them even more, possibly discovering that I’m able to relax more.

The idea of having a great trip around the world is spectacular. It would be an unforgettable experience. But knowing where to start the great journey is not as easy as it first seems!
