Security for the London 2012 Olympics

Everyone is awaiting the fore coming Olympics eagerly. It's four years since we had the last Olympics and many will agree to the fact that the London Olympic will indeed be amazing. It is unfortunate that no one has ever bothered to take his/her time to get to know how security has been planned. With an increase in terrorism, London 2012 Olympics’ security has been a paramount concern to the competition organizers. They have been running up and down to ensure that every step a fun takes in the game is safe.

The Olympics security, Inc.
It was started in 1986 after it dawned to people that they need to be extra careful when having fun out there.  Olympic security Inc. has provided ultimate security for many clients in the US and for the coming games they are even more equipped.  They have a large number of highly trained personnel, unlimited communication between the team and clients and a skilled management team. Through a number of difficult situations, even those involving brutal killings and assassination, they have been able to be of immense help and have provided security in many business markets. They use upgraded CCTV cameras, patrol cars, unarmed security officers, access control, and many others.

Surface to air deployed to a different site
As compared to other Olympic competitions, the London Olympics has been planned in a sophisticated way. There will be a tight security for the games as it has been the concern of people that terrorist are now all over. Through the BBC, there were speculations as early as may as to how security will be managed in the London Olympics. Royal Navy has been deployed to Greenwich. This way, they will ensure that the HMS Ocean is safe to travel for anyone interested in watching the games. RAF typhoon fast jets have also been deployed in west London. They are piloted by highly trained personnel who will ensure that the sky is conducive for the games. In RAF Northolt, there will be helicopter armed with snipers. No matter where the terrorist is, a killer bullet will always be eying him/her. Jets and helicopters will be of considerable help because they are able to cover vast areas in an extremely short time as compared to other military groups. As the games continue, fast jets will fly over the widely expanded London, eyeing every activity taking place and reporting suspicious ones. As a matter of fact, the London sky will always be on close surveillance 24/7.  In general, there will be more than 13,000 military personnel, operating every day in the London Olympics. There is an operational plan the military will operate on to ensure that every part of London is well covered. There will also be security personnel’s at the stadiums. Not all will be armed or be in official police uniform. They will intermingle with fun, and it will be difficult to identify them.

Safe Site Facilities have already been involved with security for the London Olympics delivering 540 concrete blocks to the Olympic park.

Kansas City Homes ~ Fortifying Your Home During Tornado Season

Kansas City homes see more tornado activity than many other homes in the United States.  "Tornado Alley" stretches from the area north of Texas through eastern Nebraska and northeast to Indiana, with Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas seeing more than their fair share of one of nature's most deadliest forces.

Taking steps to ensure one's safety is always an advantage between life and death and its best to be prepared for when nature lets loose no matter where you live, for a tornado can strike at any time and without any notice.  Being prepared by taking a few basic steps will help to protect your family and possibly your home from any kind of severe damage.

First of all, most building structures either meet or exceed the current building codes for high~wind regions, giving your structure a better chance of surviving violent and destructive windstorms.  Although there is no way to predict if your home will stand if struck with a direct hit, it is better to make sure your codes are in place and your structures sound. And one should never open their windows during a violent high~wind storm, you do not want to give the wind any opportunities to enter your building.

When inspecting your home it is best to pay particular attention to the following areas:  windows, doors, roof, gables and your houses connections (how your structure joins together).  If you are handy with a saw and hammer than you will probably get by with doing all the fortifications on your own or if you are not, then there are many professionals who are certified to do the work for you.

Remember to keep your outside grounds clean and trim, make sure weak branches are pruned and one suggestion is to change all your rock/gravel material to shredded bark, ensuring less damage to your home if high winds happen to pick the rocks up and begin hurling them like bullets around your property.  If a storm is approaching, remove all items that cannot be tied down, off of your property; you wouldn't wish to have your child's tricycle or the wheelbarrow come flying through your home as you prepare to ride out the storm.

It is imperative to always have an Emergency Plan for you and your family, become familiar with the Emergency Broadcast System in your area and keep an Emergency Preparedness kits nearby in case things get really upsetting.  While nothing is ever for sure, being prepared is always better than not, it could save you and your families lives one day.  And like Dorothy once said..."There's no place like home~!!"

The True Cost of Military Equipment Spending

Every year U.S. military spending increases and the military budget is a substantial and important portion of the constitutionally acceptable portion of our nation’s annual expenditures. This graphic looks at the cost of some of the tools the U.S. military uses from equipment for a soldier to the nuclear weapons program and compares them to the income and some of the expenditures of ordinary Americans.

America spends more on its military than any other country and it is reflected in our superiority on the battlefield, but spending does not directly translate into success. The question has to be asked: Are we spending too much and are we spending it wisely? The answers to those questions should be at the heart of the budget talks. Does America need to spend this much on the military? Perhaps, or perhaps not, but it cannot be argued that we should be spending wisely.

The 5 Most Powerful Militaries in the World

Military prowess can be difficult to measure. Some forces are stronger in certain areas of national defense than others. All of the premier fighting forces in the world have nuclear capability to destroy the earth many times over, which no one really wants. The truth about contemporary military might is that it is generally measured by air superiority and quick-strike ability. Absolute numbers are not necessarily the best barometer, but a barometer nonetheless.

NATO
No discussion of military might is complete without discussion of NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO is a combination of national forces that are affiliated by virtue of inclusion in the United Nations. It is largely comprised of nations with nominal military strength and the United States. NATO has operated as the security force of the United Nations and has been augmented with the recent passing of the National Defense Authorization Act in the United States. The US President is now compelled to provide some sort of assistance from the US military if the United Nations calls for help. This could include the full military arsenal of all parties in the event of a global emergency and the combination would greatly enhance capabilities while setting distinct groups of allies.

United States of America
Easily considered the most elite fighting force in world history, the United States military is comprised of four divisions that work in conjunction and serve as subsets of the Army and Navy. The Marines are a subset of the Navy and effectively served as the infantry division of United States sea power. The Air Force is the most advanced technically of all branches and works primarily in conjunction with United Sates ground forces as cover and support. The United States Coast Guard is also part of the Navy alignment, but the Coast Guard is primarily concerned with national defense and support in coastal areas. The US military consists of 1.5 million active duty soldiers and the same number of active reservists, with another 4.2 million of military age. United States air superiority is recognized across the world, though there are a few other military forces on the international scale that would be formidable.

Russia
The Russian military was not disbanded during the re-structuring of the Russian economy from communism to a capitalistic model. Much of the same arsenal is still operational, not to mention the continuing maintenance and enhancement of its national military defense. Russia's current military ranking shows a total active force of 1.2 million soldiers with an active reserve of 750K and nearly 50 million fit to serve. Russia is not a member of NATO and often opposes United Nations decisions to implement sanctions and military intervention as a member of the National Security Council, as does China.

Republic of China
China is the leading national population center on the globe and has manpower options that the United States does not enjoy. Technology is America's claim of power. Though China is also advanced technologically, they have a much larger fighting force and over 600 million men fit for duty, though China is determined to maintain a volunteer force until absolutely necessary. China has an active military of 2.3 million soldiers with another 800K reservists, but the true measure of the Chinese military strength may be the number of available men fit for service and of draft or enlistment age in the event of conscription. The military has historically been a very politically advantageous occupation in China and is considered a source of national pride.

India
Many people do not realize that the Indian military is more prominent that often advanced. Indian troop levels include 1.3 million active duty with 1.7 million active reservists. India has been largely incorporated into the British Commonwealth for centuries, though they are an independent nation today. The economies are still connected and Indian has contributed to many international peace-keeping forces. India, like China, is also a population center and the number of possible military forces could make the nation competitive with any other nation.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Lovable Labels

In 2003, Laura Porreca, Owner and Operator, had a dream and believes that "necessity is the mother of invention."

When her first child was entering daycare, Laura was impressed upon to label all of his belongings.  When she began labeling everything necessary, she realized that there could be a need for labels that are durable, long~lasting and can withstand the test of time and the daily use that children put things through.

After much trial and tribulations, a suitable product was found and Lovable Labels was founded.  Their products included ones that were both regular and slimline stickers as well as shoe labels, iron~ons and bag tags.  The Regular and Slimline stickers are microwaveable and dishwasher safe, the iron~on transfers will successfully stand up to the washer and the dryer and the shoe tags have an extra adhesive so that they won't easily wear off.

Ultimate Camp Pack ARV $44.95

With summer fast approaching who isn't thinking about all the labels you are going to need to apply when its time for your child or children to set off to camp??  I don't know about you but that's a LOT of writing and ironing...unless your a smarty pants like myself and took the stress completely OFF my shoulders by finding a wonderful company such as Lovable Labels to do it for me...well, okay, then don't PERSONALLY label my children's things...but their products allow me to do it with ease~!!

My children have VERY unusual names so the fact that these are personalized makes for a HUGE added benefit.  My son was ecstatic to learn he FINALLY has labels with his name on them...he immediately placed them in his shoes and put his tags on his back pack and lunch bag.  Now his gi has been labelled as well as his swim trunks...lol

I love the bright colours and the stick is still keeping in place in his shoes, though it has shifted a bit, you have to understand how ROUGH my young son is to know that these really do stick~!!

There are 12 designs and colours to choose from as well as over 45 icons.

And in the pack you will receive 15 sticker labels, 40 slimline, 12 shoe labels, 72 press'n'stick clothing dots, 2 mini~metal tags with metal ball chains included and 12 square labels.  MORE than enough to label your child's necessities before sending them off to camp, sleep overs or vacations.

And did I mention that Lovable Labels was a Canadian company so for all my Canadian readers that's easy on the shipping and handling~!!

Online US Poker - Where Is It Safe To Play?

While it is true that some online poker sites are no longer available there are still options for people who have the desire to gamble and to do so in a safe atmosphere.  There are many online poker sites who still accept American players and offer many diverse options in which to play.

Players have the option to play for free against other players, not computer stimulated, but actual people.  Playing with fake chips, players can hone their skills while matching their wit against other people before trying their hands at real money games.

While rumours may abound that there are no decent online poker sites for US poker players, you would be wrong to believe such an assumption.  There are many online poker deals for the player to locate, affording you excellent support, safety and security while offering top-of-the-line graphics and gameplay.

For any doubters in the fray, you can be reassured that it is legal to participate in such online poker games, even if you do not live in the United States.  The law (UIGEA 2006) states that the only restrictions for players is that "banks are not allowed to accommodate gambling related transactions directly to an online poker site."

Mac and PC users can find plenty of online poker to participate in, the operating systems have changed over the years, offering compatible software for your computer.  PC users used to have the edge over online poker sites but with new upgrades every day, Mac users are finding their options becoming more vast as program codes are being written to include every user interface.

At Mac Poker sites players will find their safety isn't a concern as one enjoys the attributes to be found upon the web site.  US poker players can feel content in their online gambling without breaking any of the rules associated with the experience.

Telltale Signs Your Email Has Been Hacked

Email is one of the most important mediums of communication used in our face-paced modern lives. Email accounts contain information on our friends, family and ourselves... sometimes, important personal information.

We all know the internet is the stalking ground for some shady characters. Identify thieves, spammers and unscrupulous advertisers all have great reasons to try to get into your mailbox. In fact, criminal justice colleges now train security professionals to focus on electronic and computer security almost as much as physical security. Let’s look at how these individuals attempt to access information within your account, how you can tell you’ve been hacked and how to stop it.

How Hackers Do It
Hackers use different methods to gain access to either your email account or your contact list. Automated programs can enter the user ID from the first part of your email address, and then try to guess the password. These programs know just how often they can try your password without locking down the account and how long to wait between attempts without locking the account.

Others use a less direct method of sending emails that contain malicious attachments. We’ve all seen emails from random strangers announcing something so amazing, we must open the attachment. Such an attachment launches a program that looks at your contact list, composes an email just like the one that came to you and sends it out to everyone you know. It might even mask the "from" address to make it look like the email didn’t come from you.

Tell-Tale Signs You’ve Been Hacked
Most people don’t even realize when they’ve been hacked. Email blasting attachments don’t show up in the sent box. You’re first indication that something is wrong might be getting a call from a friend asking about a suspicious email from “you.” Most hackers are careful not to leave evidence that they were in your account. This helps them come back later and see if there is anything else worth stealing.

Another obvious sign is discovering that your account is locked out or that your password no longer works. A hacker may have accidently locked out your account, or changed your password in an attempt to take control of your email for a longer period. Some email systems ask you to authenticate when you log in from a new computer or change account details.

Receiving a sudden, unsolicited email to confirm account changes is a clear sign that a hacker has been in your account. Same programs, like Gmail for instance, will notify you if someone logs onto your account from another location so you can change your password right away.

How to Recover
If you see any of the telltale signs, change your password immediately. If you use the hacked password on other accounts, you need to change them as well. Remember, if someone has your email address and password and you use the same password everywhere, you’re opening yourself up to even more damage.

Also remember that any password simple enough for you to remember every day is much too easy to hack. Create passwords that mix upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters. Change that password every three months. The only practical way to follow these guidelines is to use a password manager.

If you discover your account is locked out, you should follow the instructions of your email provides in recovering your account. Usually email providers have a backup email that you can fill in to help verify your identity in a situation like this, but you must set it up in advance. Go to your email security settings now and make sure you have this vital safety measure in place.

5 Reasons Every Woman Should Take a Self Defense Course

If you are a woman who has ever had to walk down a dark street by yourself, had a tire blowout while travelling alone, or been surprised by an unexpected knock on your front door, then you know what it feels like to suddenly be aware of your vulnerability. This awareness sparks a need for protection, and who can you count on to always be there to protect you? You. Here are five reasons every woman should take a self defense course:

No one is safe. That sounds a little harsh, but there really is no room to sugar-coat things when it comes to your safety. You have no guarantee that you will never have the need to protect yourself - none. Therefore, you are taking a risk if you don't learn how. Is that really a risk you want to take?

Empowerment. Even if you never have to use what you learn in your self defense course (and let's just hope for your sake that you don't), there is no question that you will inevitably take something from the course that betters you as a person. This is called empowerment. There's nothing quite like the feeling of knowing - not just in your head, but through actual experience - that you have what it takes to fend for yourself if the need ever presents itself. You may walk into a self defense course unsure of yourself, but you will walk out of it with your head held high and your shoulders back in confidence.

Teach the children. If you have children, or are a role model for any child in any way, then one of the best things you can do to be a good example is to take control of your situation - to arm yourself with what it takes to handle any situation that comes your way. Taking a self defense course is just that - taking control and arming yourself.

Stick around. Don't you want to be around for all those who love and care about you? Well, then, if you don't want to take a self defense course for you, at least do it for them. Give your family and friends peace of mind by educating yourself on your own safety.

Insurance. How much do you spend on health insurance each month? How about car insurance? Or life insurance? So why don't you think you need safety insurance? Self defense skills are safety insurance, and when it comes to being in a life or death situation, a self defense course is the most valuable insurance policy you can have.

You have no excuse not to enroll for the next self defense course you can - as soon as possible. That's because you never know when the worst might happen, and you owe it to yourself to be prepared.

Rodent Extermination – Choose Your Poison

When you’re facing a rodent problem, it can be rather daunting to decide exactly what the best course of action is. The two main types of rodent control product are traps and poisons, also known as rodenticides. There are advantages and drawbacks to each variety of products, and this article will walk you through some of the issues that may arise when using either one.

Traps
First we will start with traps, which are one of the oldest and most time tested types of rodent control.  The basic rat trap has been around for centuries and will aid in any situation where getting rid of mice and rats is the focus, although it is best suited to smaller infestations or those that are occurring in a limited space. There are two types of traps available:
  • Lethal traps
  • non-lethal traps
If you’re having no trouble with rodents getting into your food it might be a good idea to go with a non-lethal solution, although you will have to be more vigilant and make sure you check the traps regularly so that they can be emptied.

If however you have a widespread infestation or the animals are contaminating your food then you may well need to use lethal traps to end the problem, again they must be checked and emptied regularly to do the most good.

Poisons
In addition to traps, there are numerous types of poisons that can be a useful tool in the fight against rodents. The first of the two types of rodenticide is classified as acute because of its quick method of action and the strength of the main ingredients. This is most commonly used during large and overwhelming infestations where the numbers of rodents have to be reduced quickly to bring the entire problem under control.

The second form of product is known as chronic rodenticides, and these act more slowly over the course of several days to kill large numbers of rodents. The main advantage in using chronic products is that they are far less toxic to humans and other mammals than the acute products and therefore can be applied in a more widespread fashion and with less concern over the possibility of cross-contamination.

Be Clean
Whichever method you choose, whether it is traps or poison, there is one thing that should be the crux of any rodent extermination program, and that is cleanliness. Because all rodents are attracted to available food, every care should be taken to ensure that any trash or unused food is either disposed of or put away in a sealed container so as not to entice rodents or other pests. By doing this in combination with the other methods listed, the path to a pleasant rodent free home is quite simple.

My Thoughts~!!

I was very impressed with how fast and easy Total Defense Internet Security Plus was to upload onto my computer.  The instructions were simple to follow and required hardly any of my time.

My first scan through took a while, but it hasn't been cleaned up for some time and I was surprised to see how many malware/spyware there was on my system, just when you think everything is good, you find out how untrue that statement truly is.

I have no need for the parental controls, as my children are not allowed on the system, but if I were to use them, I would find them very handy to incorporate.  Again, the instructions were simple and easy to set up if you have the need.

I liked the informative reports that you receive after the software has run through your system.  There was a good explanation shared with each "problem" that has occurred on your computer.  I'm also impressed with their updates, especially with how new viruses, trojans and worms are always being created, Total Defense, truly keeps their program informed.

If you have worries about computer "gremlins", then I would suggest that you grab yourself a copy of the Total Defense Internet Security Suite Plus, it will help remove your worries and your stress.

Now, Total Defense and Mad Moose Mama would LOVE to give one of you a chance to check the program out for your VERY own~!!  You can either choose to have the package delivered RIGHT to your door, or you can opt for a CODE in which you can download it the day you WIN it~!!

Pretty groovy, eh?

Turning Your Home Into A Fortress~!!

Our homes contain our expensive possessions, loved ones and those sentimental, irreplaceable items; it makes perfect sense that we all protective about out houses and their vulnerability to thieves. There will always be scammers with over-the-phone promises of Nigerian dollars being funded into your bank account, or cyber highwaymen offering miracle cures and diets just next to the “enter your bank details here” box. But what really hits home (no pun intended) is a breaking and entering on your property; the idea of strangers wandering around your empty house is enough to send a shiver up anyone’s spine, so in this article we’re going to look at some ways in which you can identify the weak spots in your homes security and make the changes you feel will make your home a much more difficult target for would be robbers.

CCTV Systems

Over the years the quality of camera-captured images has improved tenfold, and hardware that would have once been packed in bulk into a hefty camcorder can now be compressed into much smaller devices, making them much easier to install and support. CCTV cameras have two primary benefits, firstly they fact that they are well positioned in plain sight above main entry points to the building will deter a lot of unwanted interest to start with; secondly the intended and most practical use of the camera is to capture footage of any criminal activity or trespassing carried out on your property. If you capture anyone on camera damaging or stealing your property then then they will soon be looking for a criminal defence solicitor, as clear CCTV footage can be used as evidence against them in court. CCTV systems can be professionally installed with a recording system included; alternatively you can buy CCTV systems with built in wireless transmitters for an easy DIY installation.

Spotlights and Dummy Cameras
A popular deterrent of suspicious activity is a mounted spotlight with a built in motion sensor positioned above entry points to your property. When motion is detected within the designated area the spotlight will illuminate your yard and attract attention from neighbours and yourself.

Dummy cameras also serve as a popular deterrent, looking identical in every way to a CCTV camera, (some which are powered to move in the same way as a CCTV camera) dummy cameras have proved to be an effective way of securing an entry point to homes.

Driveway Alarms
Designed to alert occupants to an approaching vehicle or visitor, the driveway alarm can help to attract attention to anyone arriving at unexpected times. This is effective at night when anyone arriving at this time with a vehicle could possibly be up to something conspicuous. A badly positioned driveway alarm however, could prove to be nothing more than an annoyance, animals or moving foliage could break the perimeter of the alarm and set it off regularly. As the alarm is triggered when a perimeter is broken it will also sound when an object is leaving your premises, alerting you to a potential theft of your car, motorbike or anything else that could have you searching for motoring offence solicitors

Modern Doors and Windows
The best and most obvious way of securing your home from break-ins is to ensure thieves cannot get into your property. Modern PVC doors and windows are a fantastic way of making your home secure and unauthorised entry to the property. The doors have at least two think bolts securely in place when the door is locked and windows are often locked with a key from the inside making entry from the outside an sizable and difficult task. Although the purchase and installation of PVC doors and windows may be considerably expensive to home owners; modern doors and windows are definitely worth considering when burglar-proofing your home.
